Prologue: the break-in
The opening is linear but teaches the two systems that matter most: whip traversal and disguise. Grab every document on desks — several become lore entries you cannot return for.
The Vatican: first steps
Once the map opens, resist the main quest marker. First, buy the Vatican map from the vendor near the fountain — it marks all collectibles and pays for itself immediately. Then pick up the camera: photographs of murals are both collectibles and puzzle hints.
Puzzle: the fountain inscription
The Latin inscription references the four evangelists. The solution is to align the statues in the order shown in the fresco inside the chapel — photograph the fresco, then match the fountain statues to the fresco’s left-to-right order.
The Sistine Chapel photograph is only available during your first visit, before the story event that restricts the area. Take it before progressing the main quest past the library.
Disguise route through the restricted wing
The blackout disguise in the laundry room opens the entire east wing without a single fight. The patrolling officer sees through it up close — keep ten meters of distance or stick to the scaffolding route along the ceiling.
Collectible checklist before you leave
- All 10 Vatican notes and documents.
- The three mural photographs (including the missable chapel shot).
- The relic behind the fountain puzzle.
- The medicine bottle in the infirmary (used in a later side quest).
That completes the Vatican chapter. Every collectible on the list above becomes unreachable once you leave for Gizeh, so sweep it before you travel.
